IBAN

Cheap and quick way to transfer money abroad

If you are expecting a money transfer from abroad, then you will need to provide the person paying with both the BIC code of your LBBW and your IBAN.

How to find your IBAN

  • You can find your IBAN on your bank statement.
  • Alternatively, you can check your IBAN with our IBAN Checker». To do this, you will need your account number.

In the case of a SEPA euro transfer, a standard EU transfer or an international transfer, please ask the recipient for both the valid IBAN and BIC.

IBAN (International Bank Account Number)

  • An IBAN serves as an international standard for identifiying bank accounts.
  • In the case of SEPA euro transfers and standard EU transfers, the use of an IBAN is obligatory and regulated by law.

The legal foundations of the IBAN were established by standard No. 13616 of the International Standards Organisation (ISO) and in document No. 204 of the European Committee for Banking Standards (ECBS).

An IBAN consists of a maximum of 34 alphanumeric characters. A fixed length is determined for an IBAN by every country using them. In Germany, the length is 22 characters:

  • 2 letter country code (DE)
  • 2 variable check digits (globally calculated standard)
  • 8-digit bank code
  • 10-digit bank account number (possibly with leading zeros)

LBBW's BIC code (also called SWIFT code) is: SOLADEST

Please note:
Although characters are displayed in blocks of 4 in correspondence, the last block may have fewer characters depending on the country.

Example:
DE22 6005 0101 0001 2345 67 is the IBAN for the account 123 45 67 managed by LBBW (bank code 600 501 01,
BIC-Code: SOLA DE ST).
